We've published a contact database of Government departments and organisations
so you can see dbonair in action. You do not have to register and we do not
collect any personal details when you view this demo.
To view the database connect to the following url with your wap browser:
http://www.dbonair.com/demo/
The first page you will see is the search screen.
Here you can enter part of the name of a Government organisation,
eg 'cons' for Conservation,
and select OK to search.
Alternatively you can select Next to go to the next search page which allows
you to search by type - selecting the type you want will begin the search.
You can also search by name AND type. Enter some text for the name,
select Next, then select a Type.
When your search is complete the list of matching department names will be shown.
At the top of the list is the name of the database and a record count eg: Govt Depts: 1-20/25
This means records one to twenty of the twenty five matching records found are
being displayed. Only twenty records are displayed at one time. If you have
more than twenty records, you can scroll to the bottom of the screen to select
a link to view the next set.
To view the detail of an individual record, select it from the list.
In the demo database this will show the departments name and its street address
followed by a list with contact details depending on what data is available.
dbonair allows you to specify database fields as url, phone and email fields.
This is very useful when creating a contact database as it means, you can
automatically connect to a url, place a call, or send an email just by selecting
the field. Most records in the demo database contain a url, phone number and
email address. (some wap browsers do not support sending of emails)
When you are finished viewing the record you can use your back button to return
to the list or select Again to start a new search.
You can also set up dbonair databases so you can add, edit and delete records right
on your handset (these features are not available on the demo database).
You can specify the users that these functions are restricted to so you can be sure that
data can be changed by only those people who should be able to change it.
